Interpretation limits

Observational interactions and adjusted hazard ratios do not demonstrate a mortality benefit from periodontal treatment. Residual confounding and exposure measurement remain relevant. A publisher correction is retained; no causal treatment claim follows from the cohort.

Publication status check

No retraction notice found in the checked sources; corrections linked. Publisher-supplied full-text XML (article title/type and related notices), Europe PMC core publication types, and publisher-deposited Crossref update-to/updated-by/relation metadata checked on 2026-10-22. Bounded record checks are not a comprehensive guarantee of article integrity; Crossref and repository metadata may be incomplete or lag publisher updates.

Correction adds an omitted funding acknowledgment: CP was funded by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, grant 451892213.
