Do research measures recognize the ways care is expressed in my cultural context?
A trustworthy parenting evidence base must recognize that attentive care can be expressed differently across cultures. This review examines whether common sensitivity measures capture those differences.
Who was studied?
Sixteen frequently used sensitivity instruments evaluated across 616 papers, with a Latin American lens
Age / stage: Caregivers of children aged 0–6 years
Read with three questions
- What counted as alignment with Ainsworth’s definition of sensitivity?
- How might a focus on positive affect miss proximity or routine-based responsiveness?
- What training-access and regional-validation gaps did the review identify?
Keep the limits in view
The frequency threshold may omit local or emerging tools. Publicly documented evidence was incomplete, and the review did not conduct study-level quality appraisal. It is a measurement review, not an intervention efficacy test.
