Editorial reading guide · Kindness

Which supports appear helpful here, and which associations remain uncertain?

Examines cessation, work flexibility and family support while retaining nonsignificant leave and break findings, keeping care recommendations proportional to the evidence.

Study context

303 employed mothers in Mogadishu, Somalia, interviewed in 2024 across four occupational groups.

Age / stage: Mothers of children aged six to twenty-four months.

Read with three questions

  1. How was exclusive-breastfeeding cessation measured retrospectively?
  2. How did flexible time and family support relate to cessation?
  3. Why should nonsignificant adjusted leave and lactation-break estimates not be described as established effects?

Keep the limits in view

Cross-sectional recalled feeding and work measures permit confounding and reverse interpretation; an observed association does not establish that a benefit helps or harms breastfeeding.
